WACO at Spaceland

W.A.C.O. (It stands for Wild Acoustic Chamber Orchestra in case you're wondering) are a strange and wonderful mix of instruments and styles. Steve Gregoropolouz is the composer, and lead singer/front man for this group, which leads me to think that either he's a genius or that he should be committed (or both perhaps). If you're looking for a straight rock band, look elsewhere fanboy. If you're looking at their name and expecting a classical concert, forget it, Chad. If you want a band that boldly goes where few have gone before, you came to the right place.

With 11 regular members, they fill a stage like no other band in LA, and fill the sonic space in the room equally well (though they weren't particularly loud). Their music is more jazz than classical or rock & roll, though there are influences from all three styles and several others. If a band like ELO were playing music by someone like Wendy Carlos or Bill Bruford, it would likely be placed in the same part of the record store as W.A.C.O. Needless to say, with so many interesting people and instruments on stage, I took a ton of pictures.
