When I got there, Scarlet Crush was just going on. I've seen them
before and they were hyping their forthcoming CD produced by none
other than Walter Clevenger. Next up came the Spinning Jennies
who were pretty good, but after seeing 50 bands in a week you start
to get new-band-burnout.
Then the cure for new-band-burnout hit the stage. The Oranges are a Japanese band that look & play like a cross between the Partridge Family and the Bay City Rollers. They sang all in Japanese, but it didn't matter, cuz they still played a great set and got the only encore of the day. I hadn't seen Wonderboy before, and of course, they were great. I bought Napoleon Blown Apart and it rules. I highly recommend it. The Popdudes were the closers, and I was playin' with them on Love is Alright Tonight, so Susan West took most of the pictures. I was supposed to play with them on their closing number as well, which was going to be Add Some Music to Your Day by the Beach Boys, but the show was running mega-late, so David Bash cut `em off after 5 or 6 songs. Didn't matter. A good time was had by all. Enjoy the pix - |
