Three of my favorite local bands were playing this set at the gig, and there was really no let down in the other two bands that played as well. Crash Into June are jangly pop, while the Pranks were more high-energy hard-edged pop rock, like the Andersons.As usual, The Gig was both a blessing and curse for picture taking. Their lighting is fabulous, but the stage is pretty high and they blow smoke all the time. The former means that you're usually shooting up into a light, which makes focusing slow if not impossible. The later means that if you shoot with a flash it looks pretty hazy. I got a few good shots (and a few bad shots) of each of the bands, but I think the pictures of the Pranks and the Piper Downs came out the best. That's pretty appropriate, as the Pranks were one of my favorite new finds of IPO and the Piper Downs played a set that woulda had the room smoking even if they weren't using smoke machines. :-) Enjoy |
